Rocky Mountain Bad Boyz presents:
"Bring The Pain"

Saturday night May 22, 2010 the Red and Jerry's event center opened their doors to welcome the fans of Rocky Mountain Bad Boyz as they held their, "Bring The Pain" show. There were three professional bouts including the main event, a professional women's MMA bout. One professional title was contested as well as a regional title and a state title in the elimination division.

Main event: Diana Rael vs Stephanie Skinner in a 110 lb. professional bout. Both fighters started out with probing strikes and after a strong exchange Skinner initiated a takedown. Rael was able to control position on the way to the ground and she landed in full mount. On the ground Rael postured up and threw an unrelenting series of elbow and forearm strikes to get the TKO victory at 1:09 of round one.

Rocky Johnson vs Steven Simmons for the Rocky Mountain Bad Boyz 155 lb. professional title. Each fighter came out with punches then Simmons landed a solid low kick then a head kick that stunned Johnson. The next time Simmons threw a kick Johnson trapped it and got a takedown. The referee stood the fighters when the action slowed and they clinched and landed knees and uppercuts. Johnson then got another takedown and worked GNP to end the round. Round two had both fighters landing good punch combinations before Johnson got an ankle pick takedown off of the cage. Johnson took side control then mount and ended the round with GNP. Round three started with a quick clinch with each landing strikes before Johnson got a takedown into half mount for GNP. For the rest of the round Simmons worked off of his back threatening with submissions while Johnson looked to improve position and work GNP. The bell ended the final round and the judge's gave the nod to Rocky Johnson who retained the Rocky Mountain Bad Boyz 155 lb. professional title.

Travis Coyle vs Ramico Blackmon in a 170 lb. professional bout. Coyle opened with a head kick then the fighters clinched and spent the majority of the round working knees and punches against the cage. The referee separated the fighters and Coyle landed some low kicks while Blackmon ended the round with a takedown. Round two began with Blackmon getting a takedown then escaping a guillotine attempt before working GNP. Coyle scrambled back to standing and the fighters clinched until the referee separated them. Upon restarting Coyle jumped to standing guard and pulled Blackmon to the mat looking to sink in the guillotine choke. Blackmon escaped, the referee stood the fighters and they clinched to end the round. Round three started with Coyle landing a flying knee and following with punches. Blackmon lowered his level looking to shoot, but Coyle locked in a guillotine, fell back to closed guard and got the choke closed off for the tapout victory at :39 of round three.

Matt Cox vs Mark Taylor for the Rocky Mountain Bad Boyz 170 lb. state title. The fighters traded strikes before Cox got a takedown to set up his GNP attack. The referee stood the fighters and took a point from Cox due to strikes landed to the back of the head of his opponent. Cox then got a takedown and ended the round working GNP. Round two had Cox shoot for a takedown but Taylor got head control and set in an Anaconda choke. After several rolls to try to close off the choke Taylor got the position he needed to get the title winning tapout at :52 of round two.

Marcus Edwards vs Ali Hanjani for the Rocky Mountain Bad Boyz 155 lb. regional title. Each fighter landed strong strikes early before Edwards got a takedown. Hanjani was able to scramble to standing but Edwards again scored a takedown. On the mat Edwards transitioned to back control and sunk in the RNC to get the title winning submission at 1:15 of round one.

Nick Street vs Kenneth Jefferson. Street opened with a low kick, then a knee strike before scoring a takedown into half mount. Jefferson attained full guard but Street worked strong GNP then used a can opener to get Jefferson to open his guard. Street then stood and from inside the guard of Jefferson he landed an overhand right that got him the KO victory at 2:30 of round one.

Joe Salley vs Jullian Gonzalez. Both fighters came out with extremely aggressive striking and each was able to score a takedown. However, each time they worked back to standing and stood toe-to-toe to trade strikes until the round ended. Due to injuries incurred during the exchanges Salley was unable to answer the bell for round two so the winner by TKO at 3:00 of round one was Jullian Gonzalez.

Adrian Prospero vs Darren Herrera. Herrera got a takedown into side control, but Prospero escaped and scrambled to standing. The fighters then exchanged hard strikes with Prospero landing multiple left hooks that hurt Herrera. Herrera shot for a takedown but Prospero defended and worked GNP. Herrera was able to get to standing but Prospero continued to flurry with left hooks until he got the TKO win at 1:50 of round one.

Henry Solis vs Brandon Griffin. Solis got an early takedown but Griffin worked back to standing and each fighter had success with their striking both in and out of the clinch to end the round. Round two saw Griffin get a takedown into half mount but the action slowed and the referee stood the fighters. Solis again got a takedown and worked solid GNP from side control to get the TKO win at 2:12 of round two.

Mike Toland vs Luke Hoffman. Hoffman opened with fast strikes to set up a takedown. From side/back control Hoffman tried for a rolling calf slicer but Toland defended and the fighters scrambled to standing. Toland got a takedown but off of his back Hoffman set in an armbar for the tapout win at 2:04 of round one.

"Of the night" moments:

GNP of the night goes to Diana Rael for her fight winning flurry of elbow strikes that got her the TKO win in round one.

Chin of the night goes to both Joe Salley and Jullian Gonzalez for their back and forth striking exchanges that had each answering back from punches that would have stopped many fighters.

Submission of the night goes to Mark Taylor for staying committed to his anaconda choke that after 3-4 rolls finally paid off and got him the win.

TKO of the night goes to Matt Alvarado for the hammer fists that he used from side control to get the TKO win.

KO of the night goes to Nick Street for the overhand right to his grounded opponent that got him a KO in round one.

Fight of the night goes to Rocky Johnson and Steve Simmons for their title fight that went all three rounds and showed off the heart, conditioning, grappling and striking of both fighters.

Thanks to the sponsors for making the event possible.

Best in Health and Training,
J.R. Gordon.-
